The ‘Use My Kitchen, Tell Your Story’ Dinner Series is back! Hosted by Edible Magazine and in partnership with Wild Horse Winery and area restaurants who have offered the use of their kitchens, each dinner of the ‘Use My Kitchen, Tell Your Story’ Dinner Series will showcase an immigrant chef who will tell their story to the evening’s guests through a series of dishes, using food as a tool to find common ground and foster understanding.

Internationally renowned chef, restaurateur, and food writer Yotam Ottolenghi wants you to arrive a little hungry to his San Luis Obispo stop of his cookbook interview tour on October 12. “Come somewhere in the middle,” Yotam said. “If you come totally full, you may not enjoy some of the tantalizing aspects of seeing the food and talking about the food. The Edible Magazine San Luis Obispo Summer House celebrated all things culinary and brought the magazine to life at the beautiful La Lomita Ranch. The curated, multi-day gathering of experiences showcased the opportunity to try one-time-only food collaborations, cooking classes, farm shares, dinner parties, media meet-and-greets with Edible staff, chef’s tables and more, enjoying it all – together. The Summer House served as a pop up as a pop up creative space for our Edible team, for everything from storyboarding, to conducting photo shoots and interviews for magazine features, as guests perused the property. We are grateful to everyone who joined us in making this such a memorable few days in a beautiful place we call home. Food gives us a remarkable opportunity to connect and learn about different cultures. These shared meals are the inspiration behind Edible San Luis Obispo’s Immigrant Dinner Series. For the second year in a row, three incredibly talented chefs brought people into their background with delicious food and memorable evenings.

When we first started telling people we wanted to have a ‘tinned fish’ dinner, the reactions were either very skeptical, or very enthusiastic ‘I LOVE TINNED FISH!’ replies – and nothing in between. So we held our breath and hoped there were enough tinned fish lovers to show up.

An opportunity to connect and learn about different cultures through a shared meal is the inspiration behind Edible San Luis Obispo’s Immigrant Dinner Series. For the second year in a row, the highly successful event will feature three chefs of varying backgrounds.

It’s that time of year again: picnics, light refreshing meals, al fresco dining and of course, rosé. A lot of rosé.
